ACS&T will continue to store the products local to the manufacturing source in one of its Grimsby cold stores, keeping the primary mileage to a minimum. The Foodservice orders are then picked and distributed nationwide to Young’s Seafood’s customer base.
Administration time and costs are also reduced because of the EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) link between ACS&T’s leading edge IT system and Young’s electronic ordering system. Information on orders and stock levels are shared between the systems, with orders passed directly to ACS&T in real time. Daily stock reconciliations are also sent back to Young’s to ensure that sufficient stock levels are maintained. This helps to streamline the ordering process and increase accuracy by reducing manual ordering errors.
Scott Barker, UK distribution manager for Young’s Seafood, said: “We have worked with ACS&T since the 1990s, and have extended the contract because they have proved to be dependable and reliable logistics partners.
“ACS&T’s depot provides quality order processing, storage and delivery services direct to our customers which reduces our administrative effort, provides security of stock supply and ensures that we can concentrate our efforts on manufacturing.”
