Are you looking for an alternative to turkey this Christmas?

If so, a Packington Cockerel could be just the thing!

Raised on the green pastures of the Mercer family farm, just outside Barton-under-Needwood in Staffordshire, these free range birds eat a natural diet supplemented with the finest maize and omega3 enriched corn. The end result is a healthy, happy bird with a wonderful golden glow. This slow and stress free life also ensures a superb and natural flavor; a flavour that had almost disappeared, thanks to modern day, intensive farming.

“Our aim is simple: we want to bring back chicken like it used to taste... to bring
back the best. Our Packington Cockerel is the very best we have to offer. Larger
than our standard chickens, allowed more time to grow and mature, The Packington
Cockerel is moist, plump and very tasty, and perfect for that special occasion or
large family gathering,” says Alec Mercer.

The Packington Cockerel is available to order directly from Packington Poultry, and arrives in a branded box, complete with cooking instructions.

The Packington Cockerel makes an impact from the moment it’s unwrapped from the box. Plump and very heavy, it’s clear from its appearance that the bird is of extremely high quality and has been raised in a free range, natural environment. The easy to follow recipe made cooking the bird as simple as any other roast, and the final dish was far more moist and flavourful than a traditional turkey. The meat had a firm consistency and also retained a delightful juiciness, with a taste far more distinctive than a bland supermarket chicken. Definitely recommended for Christmas or a special occasion, the cockerel made a real impression on our testers, who were all very surprised and impressed with a bird they were not familiar with.
