Steamed to perfection

Tilda, the UK’s leading Basmati rice company, has launched Tilda Steamed Basmati - a new range which combines the finest Basmati rice with the highest quality, natural ingredients.
The range offers a mouth-watering selection of 15 rice recipes, all featuring Basmati, and all have been partly steamed - the most natural, gentle way to cook rice - so consumers can complete the cooking in two minutes in a microwave, or a few minutes in a wok. Firm favourites Pure, Egg Fried and Pilau are joined by cosmopolitan flavours such as Pinto Bean and Chilli; Roasted Pepper and Courgette; and Coconut Chilli and Lemongrass. Tilda Steamed Basmati will also be the first range of its kind to include a Brown Basmati rice variety and the first to combine Basmati rice and pulses in Turtle Bean and Red Pepper; Split Pea, Clove and Cinnamon; and Chickpea, Yoghurt and Mint varieties.
The Taste Test panel tried a variety of the new rices, and all were very well received. The editor was most impressed with the Chickpea, Yogurt and Mint variety. It was very easy to prepare, and very tasty, with a zingy mint kick and a delightful soft, separated consistency. “Definitely something to keep in the larder for a simple and delicious evening meal or snack,” she said.
